Abu Dhabi Occupancy Certificates: 16 September Deadline
The DMT grace period ends 16 September 2026. Units without valid occupancy certificates lose Tawtheeq registration, cutting off the DCT holiday home licence. Operators have about five weeks to act.

Abu Dhabi property owners and short-term rental operators have until 16 September 2026 to apply for or renew building occupancy certificates. The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) announced the grace period under Administrative Decision No. (1) of 2024. Units without a valid certificate will be blocked from Tawtheeq registration. Without Tawtheeq, operators cannot obtain or renew a Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) holiday home licence. The fine for non-compliance reaches AED 1 million.
