Annecy's New Mayor Will Keep the Airbnb Crackdown
Antoine Armand (Renaissance) won Annecy in March and now leads Grand Annecy. He also carried the 2023 bill behind the Loi Le Meur. His pledge to keep regulating meublés de tourisme, Airbnb included, means the 2,660-authorization quota, DéclaLoc registration, and 90-night cap will not be loosened.

Annecy’s new mayor, Antoine Armand, will keep enforcing the city’s short-term-rental crackdown. He has said so explicitly, pledging to continue “the control and regulation of tourist furnished rentals, notably Airbnb” (Les Echos, 11 August 2026). No rule changes and no new deadline. The 2,660-authorization quota, DéclaLoc registration, and the 90-night cap all stay in force.
Armand is the rare mayor who wrote part of the national playbook before taking local office. He carried the November 2023 proposition de loi (PPL) that became the basis for the Loi Le Meur (n° 2024-1039). What is the Loi Le Meur? It is the French law of 19 November 2024 that cut STR tax abatements and handed mayors stronger powers to cap and quota short-term lets.
