Barcelona’s planned 2028 phase-out of HUT (Habitatge d’Ús Turístic) tourist rental licences could push residential rents down by 8–13.4% and purchase prices by 6.1%, according to a new study from the Institut d’Economia de Barcelona (IEB). The research, published alongside the city’s expanded community-ban aid programme, found no measurable negative impact on Barcelona’s GDP.
