Barcelona’s Guardia Urbana has sealed more than 30 illegal luxury tourist flats run by an organised network nicknamed the “banda de los retretes clandestinos”, the city confirmed on 17 August 2026 (La Vanguardia). The network controlled 34 rooms across 13 properties, concentrated in the Eixample, and now faces roughly €840,000 in open sanctioning files plus €89,000 in coercive fines (Metrópoli Abierta).
