The first filing window opens October 2026 for Edinburgh STR operators collecting the 5% visitor levy. File via visitorlevy.scot within 30 days of the quarter end. Miss it and penalties start at 10% of council tax band.

Edinburgh’s 5% visitor levy has been in force since 24 July 2026. The first quarterly return is now due by 31 October 2026 for the period covering 24 July to 30 September 2026. Accommodation providers must file their return and remit collections through the visitorlevy.scot portal. Providers who file on time keep 2% of the levy collected as an administrative allowance (City of Edinburgh Council, Visitor levy timeline, August 2026).
