Florence Public Entity Caught Running STRs It Banned
The Comune di Firenze-owned ASP Montedomini, a 550-year-old social-care institution, was caught running STRs in the historic centre. New documents show the tenders demanded two years of solid financials, yet at least two winning companies were newly incorporated and could not plausibly have met the test. A Council session now sits in the week of 31 August to 4 September 2026.
Regulation Radar
A public entity owned by the Comune di Firenze has been caught operating short-term rentals in the historic centre, the very practice Mayor Sara Funaro’s administration banned for private citizens. New reporting shows the tender documents Montedomini used to lease those properties required two years of solid financials, yet at least two winning companies were newly incorporated and could not plausibly have met the bar (Corriere Fiorentino, 11 Aug 2026). A criminal investigation is open, and an extraordinary City Council session now sits in the week of 31 August to 4 September 2026.
