Lisbon AL Registrations Fall 36%: Cleanup, Not Demand

Lisbon’s pool of active local accommodation (AL) registrations fell 36% in about 13 months, from 18,547 in 2025 to 11,870 in August 2026, per Vizinhos em Lisboa’s extraction of Turismo de Portugal open data (SAPO, 17 Aug 2026). Read the fine print before you act on that. Most of the drop is CML cancelling 6,765 inactive “ghost” licences in February 2026 under the insurance-proof obligation. It is registry cleanup, not a demand collapse and not homes returning to the housing market.
