Rome's STR rule has been stuck for 14 months. Now Radicali Roma want residents, not the Campidoglio, to vote on short-term rentals. Early days, but caps and saturation limits are back on the table for hosts.

Rome’s short-term rental market just gained a new political front. Radicali Roma, through secretary Domenico Colucci, are asking the Campidoglio to consider a consultative city referendum on short-term rentals, following a similar initiative in Venice (7colli, 17 Aug 2026; ANSA, 16 Aug 2026). Nothing is formally launched and no date is set. But the push lands as Rome’s municipal STR regulation sits unapproved for 14 months, putting caps and saturation limits back in front of hosts.
