San Sebastián Tourism Tax Faces €9.75 VUT Surcharge Fight

San Sebastián’s tourism tax is no longer a settled rate card. Both opposition groups filed amendments to the Impuesto sobre Estancias Turísticas ordinance on 13 August 2026, and one package would raise the levy on tourist apartments from €6.50 to €9.75 per person per night (Donostitik, 13 Aug 2026). The plenary vote is expected in September or October 2026. Whatever survives the vote, the tax takes effect on 1 January 2027.
