Italian Parliament Committees Reject EU Housing Act
The Senate and Chamber EU committees filed subsidiarity objections on 28 October 2026. No new limits apply to short lets today, and the EU proposal stays on the table.
Regulation Radar
Italy’s Parliament has objected to the EU Affordable Housing Act. On 28 October 2026 the EU-policy committees of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies each adopted a reasoned opinion saying the proposal breaches the subsidiarity principle (IPEX). Nothing changes for short-let owners in Como or anywhere else in Italy. The opinions are a political signal, not a veto, and the proposal (COM(2026) 599) is at the start of the EU process. The one date in play, 17 November 2026, is a deadline for national parliaments, not for owners.
